Tips for the statement of purpose:

For a short piece of writing, statements of purpose were tricky to write. I talked to 11 faculty members in social sciences (education, special ed., higher ed., and ed. psych) to pin down how I wanted to craft my statements. Talking to prospective advisors was the most helpful for figuring out what each program wants, but some themes were common across conversations:
